A subdomain is a web address, that's under a main, or a root domain. One example is something.domain.com, where domain.com is the main domain name, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Each and every subdomain can have its own site and records i.e. aside from employing the domain name as a part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be fully independent and even hosted by a separate company. Employing a subdomain could be very handy if you want to have different web sites which are connected in some way. As an example, you could have a web-based store under the main domain plus a forum under a subdomain so as to offer means for your clients to ask questions or share thoughts regarding your products. The benefit of using a subdomain instead of a subfolder is that the sites will be separated, so that you can update one of them or perform maintenance without affecting the other.

Subdomains in Cloud Hosting

Our cloud hosting packages will permit you to set up countless subdomains for any domain hosted inside your account without any problem. If the main domain address is added, it takes two mouse clicks to create a subdomain and pick what folder it will open (if different from the default one), create unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, plus much more. All subdomains are going to be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for convenient access and administration. By right-clicking on any of them and by using instant access buttons you can view the error logs, visitor statistics or site files for that particular subdomain. We haven't set a limit for the total number of subdomains you can create with any of our plans, so you can have as many as you wish.
